The Stormwater Management Act of 2007 requires Environmental Site Design for all new land disturbance over 5,000-sf. Plan submissions are now also required at specific stages of the development process. Significant changes were made to the design requirements for Redevelopment projects. The Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) has developed an initial draft of the “2010 Maryland Standards and Specifications for Soil Erosion and Sediment Control”. Areas that were evaluated include: environmental site design requirements, the use of coagulants, revised stabilization standards, new standards for best management practices, and new technology.
